Solar Power Station
A Solar Electrical Power Station is desperately needed to support our truly unique Education, Health and Development Campus (for the people) in Malawi.
TPM has an established record of anti-corruption and assuring that 100% of your contributions will go towards the goal of a central solar power station that will provide much-needed electricity to fuel multiple humanitarian efforts on the TPM Campus.
In their quest for a long-term, sustainable, independent and ethical power source, they are looking to the creation of a central solar power station that will provide dependable electricity to the entire campus effort.
For this current fundraiser, we wanted to ensure that primary focus was being placed on one of Transformative Praxis: Malawi’s original goals: To provide accessible education, based on curriculum that is relevant and essential to the students’ needs, and to promote teaching and learning that fosters emancipation through critical thinking and creativity.
At TPM, we’re hoping to make the campus an active space for those most vulnerable. Only 35% of children in Malawi complete primary school. Many children drop out due to employment responsibilities at home, illnesses, and the overcrowding of classrooms. The influx of students in recent years has led to a national shortage of basic teaching materials. As well, a lack of available and safe transportation to and from schools further deters students from continuing their education.
Last year we began communications with Danforth Solar regarding estimate costs for our needs. We were very impressed with the company’s ethical commitment to training local people on mastery and maintenance of solar equipment. The rough total that we have provided is based on the estimates discussed. However, if we find a better price while fundraising, we will shift remaining money to complete the construction of the Grade 3 & 4 block, and Teacher Housing.
Your donations will save lives, enrich the impoverished and empower some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
